Something slightly different this week! I wanted to produce more of an advert or trailer type film.
I was kindly asked by The Strawberry Fair Cabaret Committee to film their annual Cabaret Show in Cambridge which included Burlesque dancers.
Burlesque has always intrigued me but not only for being a red blooded male but also the artistry involved, the extravagant costumes and the sensualness of it all.
Filming a live dance show is particularly challenging with a DSLR camera and manual focus especially in low light as I had a wide aperture because I didn’t want to bump the iso up to much due to noise so that led to me constantly focus pulling as well as keeping up with the fast paced action.
The biggest thing that I realised when shooting this was how gorgeous burlesque looks on film, and got my mind wandering as to some amazing shots you could get in a more controlled environment.
I just want to say thank you once again to The Strawberry fair Cabaret Committee and also to “Talulah Blue” for putting on such a great show!
Next weeks film I am already looking forward to as I’m hoping to shoot a 10 minute documentary on an area of sports entertainment people often dismiss 😉
Enjoy film 7….
